Ask these 3 questions on your next check-up at the dentist

Thursday, 27th June, 2019

One of the best things our patients can do in terms of maintaining their dental health is to ask a few pertinent questions and the most opportune time in which to do so is during a check-up appointment. Patients, for reasons of their own, may avoid knowing the condition of their mouths to avoid certain dental treatments. At Navan Dental, we do all we can to make our patients feel at ease and comfortable whilst in the dental chair. We also offer our nervous patients Intravenous (IV) sedation should they need it to receive treatment.

Take full advantage of your check-up appointment by asking these questions

Not sure about the right questions to ask? Gain a better understanding of your dental needs with the following questions on a check-up with our dentist Navan.

  • How is my oral health?

During your check-up, our dental practitioner will address the overall health of your mouth. Asking this question allows the dental practitioner to elaborate further and offer you a deeper insight into potential issues that may develop down the line and possible treatment plans. If you are unsure of the way in which you brush or floss your teeth, or, you need to buy a new toothbrush and want a recommendation of the best brand for you, this is the time to ask. Our dental practitioner will also be happy to address any concerns so please make sure to mention any pain or sensitivity issues.

  • Why have you suggested a particular order of treatment?

Often our patients have priorities they want addressed, for example, they may want to brighten their smiles with teeth whitening treatment. It is our goal to provide our patients with the best dental services by an experienced dentist Navan to ensure they get the smile that they want. This means sometimes some dental treatments have to take priority over others for the health of teeth and gums. Depending on the case, our dental practitioner may suggest some preventive treatment before working on cosmetic goals.

  • Why have you recommended more dental visits?

Our dental practitioner may request that you schedule additional dental visits to keep a close eye on oral health concerns. More visits may be also required if the progress of dental treatments needs to be monitored. Depending on the type of dental treatment, our practitioner may have to take x-rays which is often the best method to determine the progress of treatment. Patients with medical conditions such as diabetes may also need more regular check-ups as the disease does impact on oral health.

A dental check-up is an opportunity to address current dental concerns as well as those that may arise in the future. It is a wonderful opportunity to gain useful information on how to improve dental health. For your next check-up, please schedule an appointment at Navan Dental. We have for many years provided quality dental treatments for patients of all ages. We accept a variety of payment methods including patients with medical cards (Irish NHS).
