My child needs a dental appointment. What should I do?

From birth to 15 years old, Navan Dental provides a comprehensive range of dental treatments. And screening appointments at your child's primary school allow you to use this service.

If you think your child may need to see our team, please contact our clinic and we will be happy to arrange an appointment. If it is an emergency or out of hours, you should get in contact with your nearest A&E. If your child is in discomfort, or there is swelling to their face, lips, mouth or neck, always seek emergency medical treatment. As this can be a symptom of anaphylaxis. Or a dental abscess, which will need urgent medical treatment to resolve.

What are the conditions of eligibility for free dental treatment?

To be eligible for free dental treatment, you must hold a valid medical card. You will need to provide proof of your medical card at your first appointment. You are entitled to one free dental examination or check-up per calendar year, and two free fillings per year. All extractions are also free. Emergency dental treatment is available for anyone in discomfort with reduced treatment options.

Claiming tax relief on dental expenses

You can claim tax back on non-routine dental treatment performed in or outside Ireland. We are fully registered and happy to provide Med 2 form upon request. Please note tax relief is not available on routine, or emergency dental care.
