If your teeth are misaligned, or you struggle with bite problems, you may be looking into orthodontics Navan. You may be well aware that braces and aligners are considered to be an aspect of orthodontics Navan. Whatever has brought you to your search, we at Navan Dental are pleased to offer a range of treatments, some of which may be of use in helping you to find resolution for your dental problems.

Fixed braces are the most common type of treatment under the orthodontics Navan umbrella. They consist of metal brackets attached to the teeth, with wires which click into the brackets. The brackets and wires work together to gradually move the teeth into their position of greater alignment.

At Navan Dental we are proud to also offer ClearSmile aligners, another popular orthodontic treatment option. It uses clear, custom-made aligners that are worn over the teeth. The aligners apply gentle pressure to the teeth, gradually moving them into a straighter position. ClearSmile may be a great option for you if you want to straighten your teeth in a subtle way.

The process of treatment with fixed braces

The process of getting fixed braces typically begins with a consultation with our dental practitioner, who will examine your teeth. We may take X-rays, and make impressions of your teeth in order to help us to create a treatment plan. Once the plan is in place, the brackets and wires will be secured into place by our dentist. After we have put your braces on, you will need to visit us regularly for adjustments, which you can expect to happen every 4 to 8 weeks (this varies on a case by case basis). The length of treatment can also vary, but it generally lasts between 18 to 24 months.

While wearing your fixed braces, it is important to maintain good oral hygiene by brushing and flossing regularly, as well as avoiding foods that can damage the braces. Our dentist will be pleased to answer any questions about how to keep your braces intact and your teeth clean while wearing them. This sometimes involves using particular tools which are suitable for orthodontic fixtures.

After your braces are removed, it is likely that you will need to wear a retainer to help keep your teeth in the correct position while they settle. Our dentist will offer you guidance as to how long you can expect to wear your retainer for, in order to help prevent your teeth from returning to their original position.

ClearSmile aligners

ClearSmile aligners are a type of clear plastic tray, made specifically to fit your teeth. They work by gently and gradually moving your teeth towards their desired position over time. The aligners are made from a clear, durable plastic material which is almost invisible when worn, making them a popular choice for adults and teens looking for a subtle treatment for crooked teeth.

One of the main advantages of ClearSmile aligners is that they are removable, meaning you can take them out when you eat, brush your teeth, or floss. This makes it easier to maintain good oral hygiene during treatment, and also allows you to continue eating your favourite foods. Our patients at the practice find that these clear aligners are a predictable form of treatment. When treatment begins we use Archwize simulation to give you a visual idea of how your teeth could look post-treatment. This gives you and our dentist the opportunity to check that you are both happy with the projected result.

How do I decide which treatment to go forward with?

It is important to note that not every treatment is suitable for every patient, therefore in order to decide what is the best course of action for you personally you must do so in consultation with our experienced dentist. We would be delighted to welcome you here at Navan Dental for that consultation, and help you on your way to a straighter smile.
