Tuesday, 13th July, 2021

Maintaining a good dental hygiene routine is a vital part of everyday life and visiting your dentist here at Navan Dental will help ensure that your teeth are clean and healthy and that any dental issues are detected and treated before they can fully present themselves or cause further complications in the future. If left untreated, dental issues can progress rapidly and if you avoid the dentist they will eventually result in tooth loss. Poor oral hygiene is one of the major causes of tooth loss, however sometimes despite looking after your teeth to the best of your ability, tooth loss can occur naturally as a result of old age. Unavoidable situations such as accidents, injuries or trauma to the mouth can also result in tooth loss. Here at our practice we understand that tooth loss in adulthood is a traumatic and embarrassing situation to find yourself in. Rest assured that we deal with this issue very regularly and whether you are an existing patient or you have not visited the dentist in a long time, or even if you have a dental phobia then we are here to help you. Your oral health is our priority and we will make sure that we provide the best customer service and quality dental care to help you overcome any unease or discomfort and get you smiling happily and confidently again very soon.

What are dental implants?

Here at Navan Dental we have found that dental implants are a popular choice of tooth replacement therapy. Dental implants are small titanium components which act as a root replacement for your missing tooth. If you lose a tooth it is important that you speak to your dentist and book an appointment as soon as possible, because if left untreated, tooth loss can cause other issues. This could be weakening of the surrounding teeth and even bone decay which will lead to further complications for you and make successful treatment difficult. We aim to restore the full functioning of your mouth to how it was before you lost your tooth or teeth. Dental implants Navan have proven to do this successfully.

How do dental implants work?

The implant is placed into the bone socket of your missing tooth. A natural process known as osseointegration begins to occur, which involves osteoblasts, the bone forming cells in the alveolar bone of your jaw, to form around the implant and fuse it with the natural bone. This process can take 12 to 15 weeks and during this time you'll visit your dentist to make sure that it is progressing successfully. Once your dentist is happy that successful osseointegration has occurred then an attachment is fixed to the dental implant which is called an abutment. After this your choice of prosthetic securely attaches to the abutment to provide a stable and strong replacement for your missing tooth. Whether you choose to have a crown for a single missing tooth or dentures for your missing teeth, dental implants Navan help make your prosthetic look and feel like your natural teeth. Speak to your dentist here at the practice and find out how dental implants Navan can help you smile confidently and beautifully again very soon.

We accept medical card patients and look forward to hearing from you soon.
