What are all the different types of orthodontics available to me?

Tuesday, 15th February, 2022

After years of feeling dissatisfied with your smile maybe you’ve decided now is the time to take the plunge and get the smile you’ve always dreamed of. But with so many different brace options available it can be overwhelming to know which orthodontics Navan choice is the right one for you. We have broken down our best options to get you started on the path to a brighter smile.

Firstly, what does orthodontics actually mean?

Orthodontics Navan covers all areas of teeth and jaw straightening - a straighter smile leads to a healthier smile both mentally and physically. When you come for your initial consultation we will talk you through what we believe to be the best brace option for you. Each plan is individual to each patient and so will vary in complexity and length of time taken.

Having your teeth altered is a massive change and many of our patients have expressed the wish that they had gone through the process sooner. Many people think braces are just for children, but you can alter your teeth at any age with orthodontics Navan.

What styles of orthodontics do we offer?

Inman aligners are an exceptional way to straighten your teeth if you’re looking for a method that is completely invisible - wire tracks are attached to the back of your teeth leaving the front clear of any obvious dentistry work. It’s also very quick, with patients having aligned front teeth within six to eighteen weeks. They have become popular more recently as opposed to having traditional front wired braces.

ClearSmile, clear braces are fantastic if you’re looking for a clear tray style brace that will cause minimal discomfort while straightening your teeth. Removable straightening appliances such as these are also great when you need to clean your teeth and can be a better solution if you’re worried about getting to those hard-to-reach areas.

Six Month Smiles is another clear brace option that works on the front six teeth - it’s a modified solution to straightening all the teeth, focussing more on what can be seen in the smile. It’s a great option if you're just looking for a quicker solution.

We also offer traditional wire braces also nicknamed ‘train tracks’, these are fantastic at fixing more complex smiles that may take a little longer. If you would like a more subtle version we offer invisible wire braces that use an enamel that matches your teeth rather than using the silver coloured mounts.

Why do we wear retainers?

After any orthodontic treatment you will be fitted with a retainer to wear once the straightening work has been done and your braces have been taken off. Retainers are really important as they help prevent your teeth from relapsing back to their original positions. Teeth usually try to return to their natural position, so having a barrier to stop this process is important. You will by now have a beautiful smile, but the bone, gums and facial muscles need to adapt to the changes we’ve made and so making sure you pop your retainer in every night is a must.
